Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub

IPC hosts the Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub which supports the general practice workforce with relevant education, training and development opportunities.

Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub (CWTH) delivers a wide array of programmes that attract, support, develop and retain the general practice workforce, guided by training needs analysis, stakeholder collaboration and local strategies/priorities. This includes the Training Hub Strategy and Primary Care People Plan.

Key initiatives include:

  • Developing our future leaders in general practice through our Aspiring Leaders Fellows and Future Leaders programme.
  • Delivering a comprehensive medical education offer via protected learning Time and Lunch and Learn sessions.
  • Providing an extensive health and wellbeing support offer including Health and Wellbeing Champions, an employee assistant programme. mentoring and an established wellbeing programme.
  • Supporting the career development and retention for the general practice workforce – from induction through to retirement through initiatives such as Primary Care in Practice and our GP/Nursing First 5, Middle 25 and Wise 5 programmes.
  • Recruiting a team of ambassadors to provide support for the new multi-disciplinary team roles in general practice – from conferences to educational support and podcasts to clinical training.
  • Building the future workforce pipeline through role specific support programmes such as our Aspiring Practice Manager Programme and through placements and apprenticeships (“grow our own”)

About our service

Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub (CWTH) delivers Health Education England (now part of the NHS England Workforce, Training and Education Directorate) and NHS England / Integrated Care Board (ICB) workforce objectives across our system and the four Places within it.

Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care has hosted the Training Hub since 2020 when the previous two local hubs were combined to provide services across the Integrated Care System.
