Integrated Primary Care to provide free support to help Warwickshire residents quit smoking

5 January 2026

Warwickshire County Council has commissioned IPC delivery partner, South Warwickshire GP Federation (SWGP) to deliver a guided stop smoking service free of charge to those living, working or studying in Warwickshire.

Funded through the UK Government Smoke Free Generation Grant, the service will see GP practices, and Primary Care Networks providing dedicated support to help smokers aged 12 and over to quit smoking. The 12-week tailored programme includes a range of resources, one to one support to help people quit. Over 18s will also be offered medication and vapes to support their journey where appropriate.

Dr Ben Atkins, Associate Director of SWGP and IPC said: “The health impacts of smoking are well known, but quitting is really challenging. GPs see first-hand the impact this has on patients’ physical and mental wellbeing, and we’re delighted to be working with Warwickshire County Council to help people stop smoking for good.”

This service runs alongside the existing smoking cessation support delivered by Everyone Health. Patients can find out more about local stop smoking services on the Coventry & Warwickshire Smoke Free website.
