April marks the first anniversary of the IPC’s Primary Care Dermatology service, which has received 3,300 referrals in its first year!
Primary Care Dermatology provides specialist care for patients with a range of routine dermatological conditions where these cannot be treated within practice. Referrals are triaged by our team and patients are referred to their most convenient local clinic for treatment. There are 12 clinic sites across Coventry & Warwickshire, between them offering appointments six days a week and some evenings.
We’re proud of the positive impact the service is having, as evidenced by patient feedback. The latest results (Jan-March 2026) show:
- 96% rated their overall experience good or very good.
- 97% said we were either good or very good at showing care and compassion and making them feel at ease.
- 89% felt we were either good or very good at helping them to manage their health
We continue to review and improve the service. We recently introduced ‘patient initiated follow-ups’ to help give patients more control over their care, eliminate unnecessary appointments and add capacity into the service. We have also appointed a new GPwER to increase capacity in Coventry and Warwickshire North.
Primary Care Dermatology is commissioned by Coventry & Warwickshire ICB. Treatment is delivered by GPs with additional training and experience in dermatology, with support from dermatology consultants via our service partner, Consultant Connect. The service is delivered by South Warwickshire GP Federation on behalf of Integrated Primary Care.
